Use as a meeting venue rather than hotel, always well setup for meetings or events. There is a communal area with a couple of tea and coffee machines and some biscuits. Lunch in the restaurant is a buffet service and is really good. The rooms are of a good size and all are laid out well, the staff are friendly and can print and copy for you.
We didn't stay the night here but we used the facilities, pool, bar etc. I can't really fault the place. Staff are very friendly and they can't do enough to help. What topped it off for me though is the choice of beers at the bar. So refreshing to see a decent selection at a hotel bar. The restaurant menu looked great too but we didn't get a chance to visit. Will try next time.
The hotel bed was great. Very good night sleep. The staff were too friendly but did not talk to each other. We had 5 knocks to confirm our late checkout! Food was good as well.
I've just tried to book a room 3 times. The room reservation number is answered in the USA. They have absolutely no idea what they're doing. They asked me which state and city I'm in. I explain I'm in the UK and told them 3 times I want to stay in Waltham abbey. They've never heard of it. 3 calls later I speak to someone who tells me I'm paying in Euros then dollars. 3 different prices. In the end I gave up. Useless.
We have stayed at many Marriott Hotels and as a group they are very good. However, this is the worst one we have stayed at. There was no 13 amp supply next to the bed (we need this for medical equipment ) so we had to ask for an extension lead. On Saturday morning we had to wait an age for breakfast as they appeared to be having difficulty coping with demand. The booklet in the room states that there is a shop with limited goods. "Limited" is an understatement . Reception informed me that they only have toothpaste and men's shaving kits! In the early hours of Sunday morning some guests were causing some very noisy problems. Staff took far too long to deal with them and as a result, many guests got very little sleep. The pool was ok, however, the sauna wasn't working. We will never stay at this Marriott again.
